IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Kids got to meet their favorite superheroes at Stead Family Children's Hospital today.
For the kids and their families, seeing their superheroes was a welcome distraction from their stay at the hospital. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and many more superheroes saved the day for these kids at the hospital.
They took pictures and the kids got to decorate their very own capes. The superheroes showed the kids how to be brave when they donated blood. One mother said hosting these events means the world to the kids.
"So the kids don't think that they're forgotten about. They enjoy it. They're stuck in a hospital and don't get to see the outside world," said Lindsy Meyer of Farley. Meyer's son is a patient at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The superheroes enjoyed every moment of it and the kids got to pretend they were flying to the rescue.
"It's pretty cool. It keeps their mind away from what's next or what's tomorrow," said Meyer.
Lifting spirits and saving lives.
